Me Made May day 2

The Snuggly CoCo dress

It was a little bit chilly this morning and chucking it down with rain in Plymouth so I chose this slightly adapted Coco Dress for Day 2.

The Coco dress by Tilly and the buttons has been my go to dress, a dress I have made again and again in different fabrics and adapted to suit what I fancy at the time.

This version was I think my 4th coco dress, I used the most beautiful quilted cotton fabric by Lillestoff which I had been eyeing up since I had ordered it for the shop 3 weeks before. It very quickly sold and I was left with just over 1 m. I was having that before anyone else got it!

It was extra wide so luckily I had enough for the dress. I choose to do a collar rather than sleeves and I had fun trying to fit the collar in on my limited fabric, but I managed it, even though I had doubled the width of it!

The fabric was quite stretchy to work with, quite a loose weave and I ended up having to take it in slightly and I also added a bust dart from the arm hole, this was because I didn’t have sleeves to attach so it was gaping slightly.

Collar and dart

After playing around with the collar I was done and very happy indeed.

The collar adds a dramatic effect, the fabric is so snuggly and the short sleeves means I can pair it with any coloured top underneath.

Over the next few weeks you will see several coco dresses of mine 😊
