This is a brand new masterclass being offered by Make at 140 and Common Sense Studios, working together we are offering you the chance to design your own fabric, print your design onto your fabric and sew up into a simple but stylish tunic dress.
Over the course of two days you will start with one of Make at 140’s sewing guru’s, using the Stevie dress pattern by Tilly and the buttons we will take your measurements, trace, mark and cut out your fabric ready for the afternoon of printing. With the gals in Common Sense you will use a range of wooden blocks of different shapes and sizes to put together your design and then print onto your cut out dress. Returning for a second day the following week we will then sew your dress together, into your very own designed printed and sewn unique dress.
What You will learn:
Measuring , transferring markings and cutting out fabric
Block printing, working with different paints, how best to design, how to print.
Sewing techniques needed for the dressmaking using a sewing machine
Attaching facings, cuffs and pockets
Either a button and loop fastening or a tie fastening.
What you will need to bring
A sewing machine for the second class (if you need to use one of ours please do get in touch to book as we have limited availability)
A sewing kit, pins, scissors etc.
