All of our workshops are currently on hold.
We will be starting again as soon as we are allowed and feel is it safe to do so.
If you would like to be the first to know when a new date for this workshop is available please email us with the workshop name and your details.
In this workshop you will learn how to use your machine to draw with thread and create your own drawings/sketches using free hand techniques. You don’t need to be able to draw. You will be shown how to set up your machine for this technique, hoop your fabric and basic stitches to practise. You will be practicing marks and patterns, doodling, basic appliqué etc. in the first part of the workshop.
In the afternoon you will be creating your own design. Please bring some photos, sketches or pictures for inspiration, I will help you in the designing process.
This full day course will allow you to practise, develop the techniques and create something lovely to take home.
What to bring:
Your own machine (and manual if you have one) If you require to use one of our machines, please advise us when booking as we have a limited number of machines available at this time.
Spare needles and some thread (black to practise your stitches and some colour ones for the project).
Small embroidery scissors (I recommend Fiskars).
You may like to use darning foot, so please bring this as well. I teach freehand Machine embroidery without a foot.
Lightweight poly cotton or cotton fabric, some organza to practise on.
Some scraps of fabric for embellishing your design. A selection of silk/cotton fabrics will also be available.
Beginner to free motion but you will need to know how to use a sewing machine.
