Children's Two Day Up-cycled Jumper workshop

With the speed of the current fashion industry and ever-changing trends creating a massive waste issue, upcycling is one of the most sustainable ways to work when creating new garments. Although upcycling has been used for hundreds of years when producing new items, due to the loss of skill and the popular desire for consumption, it is a lost way of working when developing new clothes. However, over the past few years more and more design practitioners have been using this technique.

Within this workshop you will be given the opportunity, and shown how you develop your very own panelled, oversized and cropped jumper using a MUKTA pattern, and surplus clothing as your fabric. Finishing skills, such as attaching collars, cuffs and using different machine stitches to create seams will also be learned over the two days.

What you will learn:

How to mix and use different fabrics

How to create an oversized jumper using a pattern

Sewing and finishing skills

What you will need:

Sewing machine – If you need to use one of ours please advise when booking

Sewing kit – scissors, pins, tape measure etc. We have things you can use if you don’t have

these.

What we will supply:

All fabrics supplied.

But if you have offcuts or old clothing that your happy to use, feel free to bring them along.

Level:

Next stage beginner you need to know how to use a sewing machine and be able to sew a basic seam.
