A handy project bag that can be used for your sewing knitting and crochet projects as well as a lunch bag, toy bag, in fact anything that you can think of. A nice introduction into patchwork and quilting and some basic techniques for bag making
(please note the photo shows a drawstring part to the bag this will be covered in the workshop and can be added at a later date but won't be actually made on the day)
Skills you will learn
Using a rotary cutter and ruler
1/4” seam stitching
Basic patchwork assembly
How to make box corners
Making fabric handles
How to make a pull-tie bag closure
What you will need
Sewing machine threaded and working ( if you require to use one of our machines you will need to advise us during booking as we have a limited amount of machines available)
A sewing kit if you have one
Cutting mat, ruler & rotary cutter (provided by Make/Erica) –
Main outer bag - FQ of fabric
Rim & Lining of bag - FQ of fabric
Cover - inside & outside -1/2 m of fabric
* Fusible bag wadding will be available on the day, if you wish to purchase this.
We will provide interfacing and piping cord
Cardboard for bag base – we can provide perspex bottoms for the bags if required, but there will be a charge for this. Perspex does make the bag base a lot sturdier, but stiff cardboard does just the same thing but isn’t washable. A couple of sides of cereal boxes glued together will do the trick.
Beginner – would need to be able to use a sewing machine
Please note we try to calculate how long a workshop will be but these times are only a guide and your workshop may run over.
