Getting the fit right when making a pair of trousers can seem impossible, but with this workshop you will be guided through the various skills and techniques required to get that perfect fit!
Choose from two different patterns to suit your shape and style
The Ultimate Trouser by Sew Over It - Perfect for the advanced beginner, these trousers are slim fitting and ankle grazing with an invisible side zip and faced waistline for a flattering, streamline shape.
The Ultimate Culottes by Sew Over It - Also for the advanced beginner, these culottes are a flattering pair of wide legged cropped trousers. They have an invisible side zip and have the option of either a waistband with belt loops or a faced waistline.
The workshop will generally follow this plan:
To start with you will discuss your patterns, you will be taught how to measure properly and how to choose which size to do based on those measurements. From there you will be guided through tracing your pattern and how to make any initial pattern adjustments. You will then cut out your pattern pieces in your toiling fabric. You will then sew up your toile ready for it to be fitted to you after lunch.
In the afternoon you will learn how to evaluate the fit of your toile and how to adjust it to get your trousers looking exactly as you want them. You will then learn how to make the relevant adjustments to your paper pattern. At this point you will now be able to cut your trousers out in your actual fabric, either in the workshop or at home ready for the second day.
On the second day you will be sewing up your trousers in your final fabric. There will be short demonstrations of skills throughout as well as individual support.
What you will learn includes: (depending on which trouser you make)
