Fed up with boring and badly fitting underwear or just want to try sewing something a bit different?
On this course you will learn how to create the beautiful Watson underwear set, a 70's inspired soft cup, non wired bra and bikini style knicker pattern by Cloth Habit.
What You will learn:
You will learn how to:
Take measurements and chose the correct size for you.
Cut out and mark the pattern pieces accurately.
Chose the correct type of stitch for your seams.
Attach elastic to stretch fabric.
Use stretch interfacing.
Enclose both crotch seams using the 'burrito method'!
What you will need to bring
You will need to bring:
Sewing machine and sewing kit
Ball point or stretch needle
0.5 metre of fabric for bra and knickers - This needs to be 4 way stretch lycra knit: swimwear lycra, stretch mesh, cotton jersey and stretch lace will all work. It needs to have good recovery and not be too drapey otherwise it won't be very supportive!
2 or 3 hook and eye bra back depending on whether you are doing the standard or longline version
4 metres of lingerie picot elastic (can be bought from Make)
1.5 metres of 1/2" strap elastic (can be bought from Make)
We will provide sets of:
Vilene stretch interfacing
Rings and sliders
The sets come in either black or white so please let us know which colour you would like!
Advanced beginners and upwards – you must have sewn at least one or two garments.
