Regular price £37.50The Kimono is an ancient Japanese form of dress dating back centuries which embodies traditional culture and a sense of beauty. The kimono becoming one with the body.
Here's your chance to be eco-friendly without having a negative impact on the environment by sewing your own Zero Waste Kimono style robe. A creative way to show off your design skills without the use of a physical pattern. By strategic placement of the cloth you can make, alter the length and shape of the body of rectangles, add sleeves and the trims left over can become the neckband, pockets, belt and loops.
Once we've guided you though the fabric placement you'll cutting out and finally construction of your very own beautiful Zero Waste Kimono style robe.
Our technical focus will be on using a straight stitch and over locker stitch to finish the seams and finally pressing which is important in garment making.
Through breaking down the process of garment construction we build confidence in our abilities to make for all occasions.
This is an interesting class because it makes us think about how to use the cloth to the best of our advantage. It’s a great skill and makes perfect birthday presents for the whole family.

What you will need:
Sewing machine (if you require the use of one of our machine please advise on booking as we have limited supply)
Scissors or rotary cutters and cutting matt
Sewing kit - Pins, thread snips, un-picker, Pencils, rubber, ruler, Tailors chalk
Materials
Fabric/old curtains to the width of the cloth, around 300 – 400 cm long. Matching thread, Ribbons or other trims to make them look even more special.
I've added a pocket pattern as an optional feature and will talk you through add this on the day.

Please note we try to calculate how long a workshop will be and plan to finish each garment in the allocated time but this isn’t always possible, If you are unable to finish in the workshop time we will make sure you are confident with your garment to be finished at home.
We need a minimum of 4 people for this workshop go ahead, if this number isn’t achieved by one week before we will be contacting you with an alterative date, if you are unable to re-schedule we offer a full refund.
