Regular price £125.00The beginners sewing courses will currently be run over 2 days or over 4 sessions either evening or daytime.
Do you have a sewing machine hidden in a cupboard that you want to learn all about? Or do you have a need to learn to sew but don’t even have a sewing machine yet? We can help.
Our beginners sewing course is designed for people who have never used a sewing machine before or for those who need a good refresher after having been away from it for a long time.
From the first steps of threading your machine we will guide you. You will leave with three finished items and by the end of the course you'll know how to not only sew, but how insert a zip and how to sew a buttonhole.
You will leave after the course with three finished items, a tote bag, a zipped pouch and a buttonholed cushion cover.
What you will learn:
Introduce parts of your machine
Show how to thread the machine and bobbin
Sew straight stitch and zig zag stitch/Look at thread tension and problems
Look at machine accessories, ie feet, needles, cleaning equipment and oil
Sewing in a straight line
Sewing and finishing seams
The basics of bag making
How to make a lined purse
How to insert a zip
How to position and sew a buttonhole
What you will need:
A Sewing machine & please ensure it is working (if you require to use one of our machines you will to advise us during booking as we have a limited amount of machines available)
Sewing kit
Fabric and notions for your bag, purse and cushion – a detailed tick list will be sent to you once you have booked on the course with full details. We will guide you and give you all the info when you book.

Please note we try to calculate how long a workshop will be and plan to finish each garment in the allocated time but this isn’t always possible, If you are unable to finish in the workshop time we will make sure you are confident with your garment to be finished at home.
