Next Stage Beginners - Skills Building

The perfect next step for those who can thread a machine and sew in a line but really don't know where to start. A perfect confidence builder for anyone who has been on our beginners sewing course prior to April 2024 and want to build up their sewing skills. 
In this one day sewing class we will start with a little recap on our sewing machines get them threaded and ready to sew, we will then be sewing up a cushion with buttonholes, a zipped purse/storage bag, learning life long skills and building up all our confidence when sewing.

What you will learn: 

Confidence with using your sewing machine 

Seam alllowances and how to finish them

Creating a pattern for your cushion 

Pattern Marking 

Cutting out the fabric according to the pattern

Seam techniques

Creating Buttonholes and position of buttons

Inserting a zip 

Creating a box bottom bag

What you will need:

Sewing machine threaded and working (if you require to use one of our machines you will to advise us during booking as we have a limited amount of machines available) 

Sewing kit

Fabric and notions for your cushion and zipped purse/bag – a detailed tick list will be sent to you once you have booked on the course with full details. We will guide you and give you all the info when you book.  

What we provide: 

The measurements and instructions for the cushion and purse. 

Level: 

You'll need to know how to sew with your sewing machine, have been on our beginners sewing course pre-April 2024. (if you have been on our sewing course since April 2024 then the course for you is the Next Stage Beginners - Sewing Clothes)

Duration: 7 hours including 30 mins lunchbreak

Please note we try to calculate how long a workshop will be and plan to finish each garment in the allocated time but this isn’t always possible, If you are unable to finish in the workshop time we will make sure you are confident with your garment to be finished at home.

We need a minimum of 4 people for this workshop go ahead, if this number isn’t achieved by one week before we will be contacting you with an alterative date, if you are unable to re-schedule we offer a full refund.
