Me Made May Week Three

Another week in lockdown and I have been doing a bit of sewing, yay!

I have finished my Pietra pants by closet case, my Cashmerette Webster Dress and I have started my Shelby Dress by True bias. A busy week!!

A casual hang out at home today so I had my lovely Stevie dress by Tilly and the buttons on, this is made with beautiful dogtooth linen by Merchant & Mills and a lovely double gauze contrast by Kokka. Now looking at this dress I don’t know why I haven’t made more I really like the loose shape of this and how comfortable it is to wear.

Popped a little visit in to my step mum and took a few shots of this new sew. This was a pattern I bought back when I first started sewing and it is called the Daisy dress, it’s a simple sew with two pieces no darts, a fold down neckline to create dramatic neck opening and the arm holes are finished with bias binding.
With this version I made the front and the back the same size, whereas on the pattern normally the back is smaller but I wanted to option of wearing the dress back to front. Whether I actually do this or not I’m not sure but I wanted the option. I have had the fabric for ages, it’s a Cotton and steel cotton and I love the fishy print. This will be a throw on casual dress perfect for festivals (when we are allowed to).

In the shop today showing off my new Lillestoff fabrics and I popped this little number on. My Willow Tank top mix, I loved the triangle fabric so much a Sevenberry cotton and wanted to use a scrap of it and so paired it with a mid-blue denim for this colour block top. It’s a little tent like with the fabric on bottom but it’s a nice one to wear.

I finished my Cashmerette Webster dress which I made in a Triangle print twill viscose which we have for sale on the website at the moment. This fabric was lovely to sew, a little more concentration needed on the cutting out though, little slippery.
I love the shape of this dress, it was still a little big even though I sent down a size compared to my toile but it works and it’s my current fav. I think I need a plain black one in this pattern for that ever important little black dress. Such a nice shape to wear and I feel good in it.

Back in the shop today to do a bit of sorting out and I wore another Stevie, this time a top version I made. Again with a contrast pocket, trim and yoke this time with a Robert Kaufmann cotton Neon Neppy fabric and another double gauze. This one I did with a bow but I think I prefer the button and loop, I’m not really a bow person.

I finished my Pietra pants toile, and I will be wearing these. The fabric is an unknown inherited at some point. It is a stable fabric, a satin feel and a twill effect on it. This pattern has really worked out, I love the flat front design of these with the comfortable elasticated back. I had to take 5cm out of the length of the waist to crotch as I always do because I have a short everything and this worked out perfectly.

I really do love how these fit everywhere! Legs, bum, hips, waist (I know its elasticated but you know). I will be making more and already have my mid-weight denim cut out and ready to sew.

Friday 22nd May

Back in the shop today and I have another toile on. This one I made a few years back and it’s a Deer and Doe Belladone dress in a semi heavy ponte roma, the pattern is designed for woven fabric but I wanted to use some stretch. I took some length out of the bodice on this one and didn’t use a zip as it was in stretch. It was a lovely sew the only thing I did different with the final version was make the darts slightly lower as they are a little high on this version.
